Trujillo from PeruPetro
Fascinating data from an underexplored forearc basin
The Trujillo dataset, which is courtesy of PeruPetro, was the most important project in my initial studies of seismic visualization in the early 2000’s.
Prior to Trujillo, I could only test my visualizations on a few random lines that I had accumulated over the years. Trujillo was the first major survey that I gained access to and it convinced me that there was far more to see in the data than conventional displays showed.
Because of Trujillo and other datasets acquired from PeruPetro, I decided to expand my research and development, including returning to University to pursue my PhD in visualization.
The project contains a few representative lines from a larger project.
The data quality, although from the late 90’s, is excellent. Although I have had the seismic for nearly 20 years, the quality of the data and the fascinating complexity of the well imaged geology makes Trujillo a centerpiece of many of my demos and presentations.
It is definitely a project that you need to download and study.
