What is Virtual Seismic Reality?
Virtual Seismic Reality is an important set of technologies that will improve and accelerate seismic interpretation, expand exploration opportunities and reduce risk.
And it will do it using the data you have now, without modification.

Technically
VSR is the science, technology and practice of working with seismic in its natural analog state. It is based on two new seismic disciplines.
Wavefield Reconstruction
Is the science and technology of reconstructing an analog seismic wavefield.
Wavefield Visualization
Is the science, technology and practice of observing the reconstructed wavefield.

Practically
VSR uses gaming technology to create a virtual, three-dimensional surface with seismic amplitudes as the relief.
What you are looking at in these images are seismic amplitudes.
VSR displays are very different and contain far more usable information than do conventional seismic displays.

Look at the Detail!
The benefits of VSR are compactness and detail.
VSR displays show amplitude, character and detail, in a single dynamic image that visually  just makes sense.
Everyone "gets" them.
Looking at them, geologists, engineers and management finally understand what we are talking about.

The Exploration Industry must get behind VSR!
Seismic is, after all, a visual science.
So, it is time for the industry to pay attention to visualization.
Because the death of oil is highly exaggerated.
In the future we must find hydrocarbons faster and from smaller targets.
And those targets may only exist on the edge of seismic resolution.

We need better Seismic!
We must have more information about our exploration targets.
But where will that information come from?
Here's a hint.
It may come from the seismic you already have.

VSR is a Good News Story
Because the information we need for the future may exist in the seismic we already have.
All you have to do is see it.
And Virtual Seismic Reality is the science, technology and practice of how you will do it.
